The René Le Denmat exhibit opening at Hideko Honma Atelier, yestaerday, was absolutely perfect. Wine, nice music, tradition and art. A lof of friends came to the exhibition, at late afternoon in São Paulo metropolis, to prestige René´s work.

 A abertura da exposição do René Le Denmat no Atelier Hideko Honma ontem, foi absolutamente perfeita, vinho, boa música ,tradição e arte. Vários amigos vieram prestigiar o belo trabalho do René no final da tarde de uma sexta-feria na metrópole de São Paulo.

Invoking the traditional Japanese spirit and providing a brake from the accelerated rhythm of São Paulo city, the Hideko Honma Atelier proportioned to visitors a new time/space relationship, offering to them an intimist Tea Ceremony.

Invocando o tradicional espírito japonês e propiciando uma pausa no ritmo acelerado da cidade, o Atelier Hideko Honma proporcionou aos convidados uma nova relação tempo/espaço ao participarem de uma intimista Cerimônia do Chá.

What is your impression about producing pottery in Brazil?

To work in Brazil and having the opportunity to show an exhibition is a wonderfoul experience.

It forces me to put myself in question again, and tell myself (because I knew beforehand) that nothing is ever definitely known.

Travailler au Brésil et avoir l’occasion d’y presenter une exposition est pour moi une experience merveilleuse qui m’oblige à me remettre en question et à me conforter (car je le savair déjà) dans l’idée que rien n’est jamais definitivement acquis.

Como está sendo fazer cerâmica no Brazil?

Trabalhar no Brasil e ter a oportunidade de apresentar uma exposição é uma experiência maravilhosa que me obriga a colocar-me de novo em questão e a me conformar (pois eu sabia de antemão) que nada é jamais definitavemente sabido.

What is your opinion about Contemporary Brazilian Pottery?

I don't know Brazilian Pottery in way it give me a full scenario. But, generally speaking, I have a full connection with the "utilitarian potteriy" concept and the "conceptual" speech is far away from my mind.

Je n’a pas vu suffisamment de ceramiquecomtemporaine bresilienne pour me faire une idée global la concernant. Cependant, et de façcon plus generale je reste trés attache à la notion de “poterie utilitaire” et les discours “conceptuel” passent bien au dessus de ma tête.

Qual sua opinião em relação a cerâmica contemporânea brasileira?
Eu não cheguei ainda a ver o suficientemente a cerâmica brasileira para ter uma idéia global. Entretanto, e de modo geral, eu permaneço muito ligado à noçãode "cerâmica utilitária" e os discursos "conceituais" estão longe de minha cabeça.

What do you think about the relationship between technology and pottery? Electric kilns with the technological aid, specific tools for almost everything, the possibilities that Internet gave us....

I don't have too much interest for electric kilns, but they are very practical for biscuit firing. I don't use the Internet to make my pottery, but technology made possible the human kind go further in a lot of different areas.
Resuming: We must be traditional in our spirit, without depriving ourselves from science.

Les fours eletriques m’interessent peu, cependant, ils sont bien pratiques pour cuire le “degourdi” (le biscuit). Je ne me sers pas de l´internet pour faire ma céramique; pourtant, la technologie a fait avancer nos connaissances dans bien des domaines. En fait: Il faut demeurer “tradicionale” dans l’esprit sans se priver des avancées de la science.

Como você vê a relação da tecnologia com a cerâmica,
uma arte que evoca tantas tradições?
Fornos elétricos com vários recursos, milhares de ferramentas para tudo, as várias formas de interação possibilitadas pela internet... Como você vê a realção da tecnologia com a cerâmica, uma arte que evoca tantas tradições?
Os fornos elétricos não me interessam muito, entretanto, são muito práticos para queimar biscoito. Eu não utilizo a internet para fazer minha cerâmica; mas, a tecnologia fez avançar nossos conhecimentos em vários domínios. Em suma: É preciso continuar "tradicional" no espírito sem se privar dos avanços da ciência.

René Le Denmat

At about one month ago, René Le Denmat, a French potter,
have been working hard to his exhibition at Atelier Hideko Honma.
Le Denmat exhibition will occur at Nevember 25,26 and 27, 2010.
René started with pottery about 1970. He is the General Secretary
of "Le Printemps Des Pottiers Association" since 1990.
He exhibited twice in Japan, one in Kasama, Ibaraki region,
and another in Tokio. In 2008 Le Denmat was part of the
" Maison de Céramique de Giroussens" itinerant ehxibition.

Há aproximadamente um mês o ceramista francês, René Le Denmat, vem trabalhando muito para a relização de uma exposição com suas peças no Atelier Hideko Honma nos dias 25, 26 e 27 de novembro de 2010. René iniciou seus trabalhos na cerâmica em 1970. É secretário da Associação "Le Printemps Des Pottiers" desde 1990. Já realizou duas exposições no Japão, uma em Kasama província de Ibaraki e outra exposição solo em Tóquio. Em 2008 participou da exposição intinerante na Europa pela " Maison de Céramique de Giroussens".

These are some of his first pieces. Fired at gas kiln, 1300ºC.

Graciela made these pieces during the handbuilding pottery classes.
A collection of glazed plates and two vases with iron oxide.
Both works using engobes with inlay technique.
Fired at 1300ºC, gas kiln at Hideko Honma Atelier.

Graciela fez estas peças durante as aulas de modelagem manual.
Uma coleção de pratos esmaltados e dois vasos com óxido de ferro.
Ambos trabalhos usando engobes e a técnica de incrustação.
Queimados a 1300ºC, forno a gás, no Atelier Hideko Honma.

I would like to congratulate, and thanks all of my students, I learn a lot with them.
