Seiichi Ostuka, a Mashiko potter was very kind with us. He opened the doors of his workshop to us, in a very rainy day. He told us the story of his family, his pieces, his glazes and the Daiseigama kiln.
Mr. Otsuka spoke passionately about Hamada and showed us two pieces made by Hamada that has a special place in his workshop.
Nowadays it's difficult to obtain Japanese red pine, used at Noborigama firings. Because that, the number of climbing kilns in Mashiko town has been decreasing and became very rare.
Besides that, Seiichi Otsuka family try to maintain their origins and tradition, working hard.
